Phosphorescent (aka Matthew Houck) moved to Brooklyn from Athens, GA not long ago, and brought with him a gentle Southern accent to match his slide guitar and tendency toward Elephant 6-ish horn arrangements. The Donkeys, meanwhile, mine the relaxed ambiance of the Golden State, delivering Beach Boys harmonies atop Byrds-like jangles. Along with San Diego's glitchiest smart-set guitar hero, Rafter (fresh off an unforgettable Noise Pop appearance in the Bay Area), and Portland, OR dream-poppers Viva Voce, they converge on Downtown's Regent Theatre for tonight's alt-folk, power-chord, and garage-trance throwdown.
