Both Luke Chueh's art and the artist himself represent unlikely juxtapositions. As a Chinese-American from Philly transplanted to Fresno, Chueh dealt with cognitive dissonance at an early age. This taste for the union of disparate elements has continued to manifest itself in his visual art and graphic-design work throughout the years, finding him fusing rock-and-roll with fine art as a guitar illustrator, and evolving a personal painting style that's both adorable and chilling. His favorite subjects tend to be young men and stuffed animals; however, his thick, dark lines, explosions of visceral, even frightening detail, and foggy, noir-inspired abstract atmospheres render them anything but sweet.
