Bradbury Building
304 S Broadway
$45
Commissioned by mining magnate Lewis Bradbury in 1892, Downtown's five-story, commercial Romanesque Bradbury Building was allegedly completed by architect George Wyman after a consultation with an early Ouija board. (Wyman was also the grandfather of Forrest J. Ackerman, aka "Mr. Sci-Fi.") Since then, the building's magnificent ironwork interior has been featured in films from Blade Runner to Chinatown, and, this afternoon, functions as a concert hall for the saxophone foursome the Amstel Quartet. Presented by the Da Camera Society, the performance is part of an ongoing series bringing chamber music to historic spaces — and, in this city, it doesn't get much more old-school than the Bradbury.
