Longtime Southland residents likely recall seeing Chaka's moniker on thousands of LA street signs, overpasses, and any other public space the '90s spray-can vigilante deemed tag-worthy. Naming himself after the Land of the Lost character, the artist also known as Daniel Ramos allegedly even tagged the elevator of an LA County Courthouse while awaiting arraignment on vandalism charges. Chaka's ubiquitous signatures have long since been painted over, but thanks to Mid-City Arts' Medvin Sobio, he now gets a chance to go legit with his first solo show — offering urban art collectors the opportunity to stock up on signed posters and original works by a local legend.
