More Flavor: Shopping

Silver Lake Art, Craft & Vintage Flea Market

East Side shoppers seeking the offbeat have cause to celebrate, as last year's most wild and eclectic weekly outdoor shopping adventure returns. With a brand-new day (Saturday) and location (Micheltorena & Sunset Blvds), this vibrant bazaar hawks everything from crafts to collectibles, and from designer pet wear to tarot readings. The market has wares to tempt even the most frugal art and record collectors, vintage-frock lovers, and panicking rug-rat shower and commitzvah gift buyers — not to mention all those recovering shopaholics who just want to do their part to stimulate the local economy.

Note:

A portion of the proceeds benefits the Micheltorena Street Elementary School.

Hey, could you expand the note? How much of the proceeds go to the Micheltorena Street Elementary School. And whose proceeds are you referring to; a portion from the vendors' sales or ghettogloss/Fiona and Jessica's take from renting the spaces at $60.-$80. for the six hour flea market? How much? Just wondering.

Silverlake=Not Eastside. Please discontinue perpetuating L.A.'s dirty little secret of ignorantly making whole communities disappear from popular thought. If you want to read more about the problem, please see Patt Morrison's column in the Times: http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-oe-morrison19-2009feb19,0,7955345.column
