Those blown away by LA Opera's ingenious production of Das Rheingold, the prologue to Wagner's Ring Cycle, are already on board for the next installment, Die Walkure. Brechtmeister Achim Freyer's unique interpretation of Wagner's masterpiece may have ruffled some traditionalists' feathers, but that's exactly why you should see it for yourself. Opening with the wild, incestuous union of Siegmund and Sieglinde (saved from the wrath of Wotan by their spear-throwing half sister, Brunhilde), and leading up to the climactic third act's "Ride of the Valkyries," Die Walkure is a feast for the senses — thanks in no small part to Plácido Domingo and Anna Kampe, starring as the pair of salacious siblings.
