Two days of commemorative events have been lined up by the UCLA jazz department to honor the 110th birthday of the legendary Edward Kennedy "Duke" Ellington. Arguably the most influential man in the development and evolution of jazz music, his name is familiar even to the uninitiated jazz fan. A myriad of guest artists are set to jam with the event's grand parade of student ensembles, all performing music composed by the Duke — a fitting celebration for an American icon.
