In the hands of gallerist Phyllis Stein and the artists in this exhibition, the notion of sweetness gets a humorous, and sometimes dark, renovation. Don't worry, there are plenty of sumptuous paintings of cavity-inducing sweets — but also expect the occasional more ironic view of what the sweet life means, the dangers of temptation and over-indulgence, and, of course, the bitterness that follows sweet like its shadow.
