This month's Downtown Art Walk event is ideal for lovers of quirky paintings in all shapes and sizes. Deborah Martin Gallery opens its show of Fatima Jamil Faiz's new series of haunting, blocky composite portraits, which seem to explore the fine line between being alone and being lonely. Create:Fixate, meanwhile, puts up another smash one-off with its Surveillance Room installation, at its former digs in the Spring Arts Tower; and Crewest continues to rake in the buzz and grins with its innovative, wacky, and wonderful group show Canceptual v.3, featuring art made not with, but of, spray cans.
