Whether as a commercial or fine artist, Gary Baseman always seeks to erase boundaries; in the case of his latest solo show, La Noche de la Fusión, he melts them down. In his first exhibition with Corey Helford Gallery, Baseman continues to reinterpret his own definition of a "pervasive artist," extending his creative influence into as many media as possible. The ambitious opening to La Noche de la Fusión features full-scale costumes by Emmy-award winning designer Wendy Benbrook, an immersive "ritual transformation ceremony," and dozens of Baseman's original paintings and drawings, which illustrate his colorful — and demented — universe.
