It's always refreshing to see a work that speaks with such striking originality that it reaffirms the value in taking risks. In this world premiere, playwright Rajiv Joseph spins a mystical tale of giddiness and pain with his surreal cast of characters — from the ghost of Saddam Hussein's son, Uday, to a formerly caged and recently murdered Bengal big cat. In Tony-nominated director Moisés Kaufman's adroit hands, the fine cast explores the gentler and lighter tones of Joseph's mystical contemplations, while never undercutting the power and intensity of the play's haunting, violent, and intensely theatrical nature.
