Expect knife-twisting drama in LA Opera's lush staging of Verdi's masterpiece, La Traviata. Long considered one of opera's most significant works, La Traviata tells the sordid tale of Violetta, a party-loving courtesan who falls in love with Alfredo, an innocent man with a vindictive father. When the courtesan's lavish lifestyle is exposed, her family life turns upside down, and the beautiful Violetta faces an ugly judgment day. Two Violettas are featured in this Marta Domingo-directed run: Russian soprano Marina Poplavskaya and the critically acclaimed Elizabeth Futral.
