Note:
The panel discussion takes place on June 20 at 2pm.
Billboards and other outdoor advertising methods are a source of contention in every landscape they grace, from the rural to the urban. In a car-lover's paradise like Los Angeles, billboards of all shapes and sizes are your constant companions, and this group show of paintings, photographs, and multimedia art by local artists addresses both the ubiquity and character of these behemoths and the aesthetic sociopolitics of the situation. A panel discussion led by sculptor and enlightened ad guy Rick Robinson gets even deeper into the history and future of the outdoor-messaging industry, and its fraught relationship to public art.
