Note:
The Total São Paulo release event takes place on Saturday, May 9 from 3-7pm (Free).
It's a perfect confluence of art and events at Carmichael Gallery this month, with two shows and a book-release party stoking fantasies about selling your art at a profit and retiring to Brazil. Get Rich Quick! assembles work by KAWS, Banksy, Shepard Fairey, Barry McGee, and many others, culled from the coffers of the gallery's collector base and put back on the market. Meanwhile, the main gallery hosts Brazilian painter Thais Beltrame in her first US exhibition. Her paintings and installation depict swooning, inky, and playful coming-of-age stories inspired by the night sky. The weekend after the opening, the gallery combines these interests as it helps launch the fiesty, non-traditional travel book Total São Paulo: A Guide to the Unexpected, by local writer Phuong-Cac Nguyen.
