CalArts and REDCAT's high-profile, immersive four-year relationship with New York's Wooster Group will give fans of contemporary theatre the opportunity to experience the famed ensemble's creative productions on this side of the country, sometimes even before they get it back East. Following last year's sold-out run of its postmodern take on Hamlet, the West Coast premiere of its newest theatrical mashup is a fusion of Francesco Cavalli's rarely performed baroque opera and Mario Bava's 1965 low-budget sci-fi horror film Terrore nello spazio (Planet of the Vampires), set in a lunar spaceland inhabited by extraterrestrial body-snatchers — and the perfect way to announce their sojourn.
