Curated by Coagula Art Journal publisher Mat Gleason, Locals Only features works by nine artists who reflect the Southland's inherent multiplicity. The group show highlights a range of styles and artistic approaches, from the dense, neo-modernist abstraction of Oliver Arms to the whimsical illustration of Jaime "Germs" Zacarias. However, the real purpose of the show is to eliminate the restrictive nature of labels altogether, insisting that the most appropriate definition of Southern Californian art lies in the differences, rather than the similarities.
