M&A hosts a closing party Saturday, November 7 (Free, 4-9pm), making use of its on-site fish pond to make organic grilled fish tacos in a tribute to the locavore lifestyle, in conjunction with the Silver Lake Art Crawl.
Materials and Applications, the architecture and landscape research company, has pursued design experimentation by focusing their usual outdoor courtyard exhibitions on architectural innovations. The idea was to create structures made with economy and environmental accountability, such as using palm fronds, recycling portions of previous exhibitions, and constructing woven shade structures from nylon strap and rip-stop fabric. The entire exhibition program and works have always been created by volunteers from the community. The current installation is visible from the street 24/7, but check their website for events and discussions throughout the summer.
