The Farhang Foundation teams up with LACMA to present segments of acclaimed filmmaker and photographer Shirin Neshat's current project, Women Without Men. The Iranian-born, New York-based director's debut feature is an adaption of Shahrnush Parsipur's short novel about four women who form their own rural utopia; set in the '50s and written in the '70s, the book wasn't actually published until 1990. Following the screening, UC Irvine film and literature professor Nasrin Rahimieh discusses the work's classic, timely, and taboo subject matter.
