As the qualifying festival for Film Independent's Spirit Awards, the Los Angeles Film Festival screens 200 feature-length narratives, documentaries, music videos, and shorts from over 30 countries — in addition to hosting premieres, panels, seminars, live music, and free screenings. Currently in its 15th year, the massive film fest includes works by up-and-coming filmmakers as well as classics and hard-to-find gems. This year's highlights include screen tests by Andy Warhol and "Hell on Wheels: Hot Rods and Fast Times," a program featuring a trio of hot rod-themed flicks from the '50s through the '70s, co-presented by the UCLA Film & Television Archive.
