The LA Unified School District may have canceled summer school for the kids, but not UCLA. Expand your mind in the cool dark of a film class and learn from instructor R. Benedito Ferrao (AAS Class 187c is open to the public) about true South Asian culture through the diasporic films of Hollywood, Bollywood, and independent cinema. After the international sensation of Slumdog Millionaire, there's renewed interest in exploring immigrant and transnational stories of communities establishing themselves outside the Subcontinent; and if you're among the "funemployed" (as the LA Times is calling you), what better way to spend your government check than on broadening your horizons?
