Stranger has the look, sound, and feel of everything glorious about the old west — and its classy, interpretive design ropes up your yee-haw and rides off into the sunset. The show is a musical, despite the fact that none of the leads sing, and it features a high body count, plot twists, whiskey drinking, gunshot volleys, knife-play, cigar smoking, and, of course, whip-cracking and corsets. The music, meanwhile, is performed live and with gusto, with the supporting cast delivering boldly original vocals and dancing. Though it begs for a run-time trim, this Sergio Leone-influenced spaghetti western has enough shining moments of brilliance to make it all worthwhile.
