Pinball machines are operational on opening night only, after which they will be available for testing exclusively to serious buyers.
Throughout the '70s, technical artist and service-manual author Dave Christensen fleshed out a series of bodacious and bawdy graphics for pinball machines, the decade's premier arcade games. Highland Park's Kristi Engle Gallery displays 11 machines with Christensen's illustrations, as well as sketches, blueprints, and proposals for other games. Local collector and curator Mark Andresen salutes the artist and his alias, "Mad Dog," bringing back the mechanical distraction for another round of analog amusement in a digital age.
