LA's Consulate General of France invites Angelenos to a day-long fête in honor of Bastille Day. The harbinger of the French Revolution, the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789 heralded the end of feudalism and the beginnings of democracy in France. In the Southland, the anniversary is an occasion to celebrate the country's culture, with Frenchmen and Francophiles alike heading to Elysian Park for the city's eighth annual Gallic festival — which not only features French food and wine, but also international music, dance, art, and even a race to determine the fastest Parisian waiter.
