Arriving in LA via Boston, indie singer/songwriter Bleu is not French (despite his name), but he does have a reason to celebrate this Bastille Day. Tonight marks the long-delayed release of A Watched Pot, his third studio album, completed just before he was cut from the shrinking Aware/Columbia Records roster in 2005. Four years of storming battlements later, the record is finally available to all fans of power pop for the lovelorn and hyper-literate. Also on the Hotel Café stage tonight are darkly seductive Aussie avant-folk duo Luluc; indie folk with a spiky pop bent from LA's Laura Veirs; and edgier, garage-inflected, catchy-as-hell indie pop from New Yorker and ex-Candy Butcher Mike Viola.
