LA's Love Grenades blend the kittenish allure of a pin-up girl retro-pop band with the noir-inspired punk aesthetic of the homegrown lowbrow art and hot-rod scene. Their sultry yet revved-up music blurs boundaries between disco, glam-rock, and the hard stuff. They share the stage with fellow Angelenos the Polyamorous Affair, a costume drama in the form of an experimental electronica duo, whose hyper-stylized dance-music hysteria folds a little '80s synth rock into a zoom-zoom set, with hints of the B-52's, the Human League, and Animotion around the edges.
