East-side bastion of indie print-making and exhibitions El Nopal Press hosts tonight's launch party for graphic novelist James Reitano's latest offering. Nineteen Eighty Five is Reitano's most ambitious and personal work to date, telling the story of the author's youth in Santa Cruz's graffiti scene through an in-depth recounting of the seminal events of 1985. The book comes complete with a specially commissioned mixtape CD by Stones Throw pater familias Peanut Butter Wolf, comprised of remixes of musical gems from (you guessed it) 1985 — which bodes well for the launch party, too.
