Marnie Weber redefines multimedia with a visionary blend of video, installation, collage, music, photography, sculpture, and performance. Tonight, the Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum hosts an evening with the LA-based artist, whose work appears on Sonic Youth's A Thousand Leaves and has been exhibited everywhere from Milwaukee to Milan. Weber's cast of characters, which includes mythological bears, mammalian hybrids, and ethereal "spirit girls," populates a surreal universe of isolation and longing, simultaneously illustrating the uplifting experience of personal renewal and that of circuitous self-realization.
