Born Bradley Stewart, Gidget Gein merged the name of an icon with that of grave-robber/murderer Ed Gein during his days as a bassist in Marilyn Manson. When the band dumped him after his heroin overdose, the erstwhile non-Manson member's creativity exploded, yielding fifteen years' worth of art before he died of an overdose in October, 2008 at the age of 39. La Luz de Jesus memorializes the artist with a major retrospective of his pop culture-infused surrealist exploitation, honoring the twisted yet provocative work of "the Brian Jones of our generation."
