Glitch Mob's productions unearth the secret family tree that links early Timbaland, the laser-guided bass of Ghislain Poirier, and Ed Banger's not-so-secret love affair with '90s rave. The end result is a whole lotta gnarly low-end, shot through with what sounds like outtakes from Wendy Carlos' soundtrack for Tron. Opener Nosaj Thing is the alias of Jason Chung, a 24 year-old LA-based glitch-hop artist and producer whose perfectionism inspires the of use nearly any object capable of making noise ("1685/Bach" beat is derived from samples peeling masking tape and loose change) to create his eerie, elegant tracks.
