The early buzz surrounding intercontinental duo Bass Science references an array of electronica offshoots, including dubstep, glitch-hop, IDM, and techno bass. But the genre confusion makes sense considering the outfit's intelligent hybrid sound. And, it might just explain their burgeoning success: electronic-music critics of every persuasion can find something to love. From heart-stopping bass and glitch-heavy beats to jerky, percussive syncopations and shimmering echoes of dub delay, Tokyo-based MattB and LA-based Steve Nalepa concoct music that's hard to define, but easy to love (and dance to). After a successful performance at England's Glade Festival, Bass Science hits up Zanzibar for a rare LA gig.
