Inspired by director Suzi Yoonessi's own preteen confessionals, Dear Lemon Lima follows 13-year-old Vanessa Lemor (Savannah Wiltfong) as she struggles to define love, loss, and friendship in Fairbanks, Alaska. Following an unceremonious break-up with her pompous boyfriend, Vanessa learns to embrace her quirks while mobilizing like-minded mavericks to participate in a school-sponsored Snowstorm Survivor competition. A candy-coated love letter to the bittersweet heartbreak of youth, the film is a compelling treatment of the often painful yet triumphant quest for identity during adolescence.
