Lovers of the tableau vivant ("living picture") revel in earnest replicas of treasures of art history, typically versions of the Venus de Milo or Mona Lisa posing in front of painstakingly detailed backdrops. The art form gets a decidedly cooler makeover in Uncovered: A Pageant of Hip Hop Masters, which features album covers of American pop culture masters including LL Cool J, Queen Latifah, Run DMC, and Salt-n-Pepa, but instead of withering in a mysterious frozen smile, the actors celebrate the genre through movement, dance, and live DJ action.
