In the perfect storm of music and activism, weekly Afro-boogie dance party Afro-Funke' plays host to a night of deep-soul jams, hip-hop magic, and Latin-infused, bass-heavy funk, as it welcomes NextAid in a benefit event celebrating the release of Funk Aid for Africa. Compiled by DJ OBaH and featuring NYC and LA dub all-stars like J-Boogie, the CD is the first in a series of releases raising funds for NextAid's amazing work with AIDS orphans in Africa, and its tracks are sure to add to the usual Thursday night dancehall mayhem at Zanzibar.
