Back in LA for a third smash year with its biggest show yet (not to mention a newly released concert DVD under its belt) The Drums Inside Your Chest is the closest thing to a rock concert this side of the poetry section. An all-star line up features sets from Drums co-founders Amber Tamblyn and Mindy Nettifee, Beat icon Michael McClure, 2009 Women's World Poetry Slam Champ Rachel McKibbens, plus the charismatic hosting antics of the untamable Beau Sia. The show also comes with collaborative musical support from New York's Benjamin Lear and LA-based Emily Wells, whose brand-new release Dirty features a track in which she lovingly beats the crap out of Notorious B.I.G.'s "Juicy" with a sythned-up violin. An afterparty at nearby Morono Kiang Gallery is sponsored by TYKU sake, and open to all Drums attendees — but look out, you know how those poets can be when they get their drink on.
