Aussie indie folk rocker Matt Ellis' third album, Tell The People showcases some sterling collaborations, including Wilco guitarist Nels Cline and Bright Eyes bassist Tim Luntzel. Recorded during a creative sabbatical in a coastal village on the Yucatan Peninsula, Tell The People summons a slew of stylings — from punk and rock to folk and bluegrass. The Venice Beach resident heads east tonight to the Silverlake Lounge, where he shares the bill with New Jersey rocker John Carpenter, a "psychedelic chamber pop singer," who writes, sings, and plays guitar, bass, piano, and viola.
