Lately, Margaret Cho has been testing her new project — a rock/folk album scheduled for 2010 — to petri-dish crowds at Largo. Tentatively titled Guitarded, Cho has collaborated with some impressive names, including Grant Lee Phillips, Jay Brannan, Tegan and Sara, and Jon Brion — and it's when the funny lady gets serious that things start sounding great. One affecting track, a collaboration with Patty Griffin, reimagines a late-night conversation between a drunk dog owner and a dog, which Cho, channeling Wayland Flowers and Madame, reenacts on stage. Intrigued? Expect more startling collaborations tonight when Cho teams up with hilarious comic Selene Luna and YouTube phenomenon Nadya Ginsburg.
