Though overshadowed by her day job as hit songwriter-for-hire, Maia Sharp has carved out a critically-acclaimed music career — and a fourth self-titled effort that's set to finally reach a larger following. Indeed, Don Was calls her "one of America's great songwriters," and Bonnie Raitt, for whom Sharp has penned many singles, is an outspoken fan. The new disc, recorded over 12 days at Hollywood's Henson Studios, features backing vocals from Raitt and a collection of slow-burnin' growers; check out the video for "Polite Society" for a tease of her socially conscious rock and folk.
