Long before Animal Planet hooked audiences on the reality series Whale Wars, Captain Paul Watson had been battling illegal whale hunters on the high seas without the glamour of a television crew on board. Tonight, the work of over sixty artists will be auctioned to raise funds for the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society’s efforts to protect marine mammals. Notable contributors include accomplished graphic designer Shepard Fairey, creator of the famous (and controversial) Hope print of Barack Obama, and California-based painter Jeff Soto, whose ominous work often includes environmental commentary. Accompanied by the crew of the Steve Irwin, Watson will be on hand to give the latest update on the state of the world’s waters.
