Springfield, Missouri quartet Ha Ha Tonka recall the mountain folklore of the Ozark state park for which they were named, blending old-fashioned rock with wistful vocals and twangy, moving guitar. Tonight, they hit the Bootleg Theater in support of their sophomore full-length recent release, Novel Sounds of the Nouveau South, inspired by the 1907 novel, The Shepherd of the Hills, by preacher-turned-writer Harold Bell Wright. Like the book, Ha Ha Tonka afford a stark, stirring treatise on responsibility, morality, and spirituality in the modern age.
