Kenny Scharf's latest one-man show, Barberadise, merges the past and future for a wistfully evocative, pop-culture infused present. The Hollywood native's exhibit at Honor Fraser is comprised of traditional media such as silkscreen, oil, and acrylic, with unconventional elements like glitter and spray paint further breathing life into the whimsically iconic characters. Using text from mid-century newspapers that are screened onto the canvases, Scharf's floating donuts, legendary cartoon characters, and shapeless globules are recontextualized into a universe that transcends time and space.
