Billed as the first bel canto production from LA Opera in six years, The Elixir of Love features a big gun: Italian baritone Giorgio Caoduro, who plays Doctor Dulcamara in this love-triangle comedy involving a simple peasant, a beautiful landowner, and a sergeant. It also features one of opera's most popular arias, "Una Furtiva Lagrima," most recently heard in the Joaquin Phoenix/Gwyneth Paltrow film, Two Lovers.
