There will be a gallery talk with the artist on November 1 at 4pm.
Through the deft and witty reconfiguration of sentimental objects such as ornate furniture, decorative garlands, household saints, wood, feathers, and hand-knit lace, Alexis Zoto's sculpture, installation (and more recently, monotypes) mine the rich territory of memory and family history for insights into the artist's identity. Though deeply personal and literally culled from her own specific experience, the broader cultural memes and archetypes of the heart which she accesses have universal appeal.
