Songwriter Meric Long first hooked up with rapid-fire drummer Logan Kroeber in 2006 for the excellent self-released CD Beware of the Maniacs, under the Dodobird moniker. Now attributed to the Dodos, the duo's newest effort, Visiter, has been stirring up bloggers and critics since last Spring with its irresistible, Animal Collective-ish melodies, bubbly acoustics, and wired toy-piano interludes. Throughout, Long sings in a tender rasp, avoiding the usual indie-rock caterwaul of indifference. The group has already doubled its draw, so catch it now, before the stages get even bigger.
