Seventies hatemonger (and Harvey Milk's old nemesis) Anita Bryant is the anti-heroine in Brian Christopher Williams' gentle coming-of-age comedy. Directed by Richard Israel, Anita centers around 15-year-old Horace Poore, a conflicted teen confronting his same-sex crush and an in-your-face anti-gay crusader. It's also eerily relevant — Horace's America circa 1977 is one facing recession, gross unemployment, and homophobic political agendas.
