Esotouric's expedition unearths the whereabouts of some of West LA's least-known and most unbelievable crimes. Among what are now great property investments, a pair of unscrupulous women once systematically tortured the offspring of unwed mothers in a 1948 "baby farm"; in 1922, spirits dictated religious prose to a one-time taxi dancer who later became the priestess of the Divine Order of the Royal Arms of the Great Eleven; and in 1937, 31-year-old Helen Love fatally shot her husband for taking his own mother to a New Year's Eve party instead of her. 1960s Synanon cult members and reformed drug addicts also figure prominently in this creepy canvassing of the Westside.
