Foshee takes her penchant for transforming mundane materials, that might easily be amassed from Staples, to familiar and differentiated dimensions with her new show at Jancar. Known for white-on-white ornithological renderings à la Avery dots, her tendril and frond, black glue-gun wall drawings, and pulchritudinous pushpin floral arrangements, Foshee is now adding text to the conversation. Her pin-wheeled, Wallace Berman-esque collages of mailing and disc labels have a new intensity that builds on her mastery of making beauty from an abundance of the everyday. Her spherical sculptures, amalgams of hot glue and Lite-Brite pegs, have a fun and slightly outer-space feel. Leslie Kneisel's sinuous, hand-stitched, fleshy, spidery drawings are an interesting coupling and complement to the otherworldliness of Foshee's work.
