“Remote warfare, military drones, and other robotic tools of destruction used to be the stuff of science fiction novels but now supply the very real subject matter for painter Chris Barnard. Using large-scale, saturated color-field canvases, Barnard critiques an American military imperialism by creating disorienting versions of weapons of warfare. Although it is loosely representative, his work holds a menacing quality that is both foreboding and eerily prescient.”
