Only in LA can an outdoor skating rink exist mere blocks from an outdoor amphitheater offering concerts in January. Better known as the site of the summer cultural series Grand Performances, Cal Plaza hosts a new music monthly, Friday Night Sessions, dedicated to the presentation of indie buzz bands on the verge of making it big. The winter evening series kicks off with Gas Station Robber and Darlings of the Day, fresh off an appearance at the Viper Room's Ten Days of 2010 indie rock mini-festival.
