Members of Winnipeg's Royal Art Lodge, a prolific and cheeky artists collective which disbanded in 2008, this pair of artistic co-conspirators soon reformed as Michael Dumontier & Neil Farber, Inc., its more literally collaborative, two-man incarnation. As a team, they continue to expand individual and intermingled expressions of the kind of quirky, faux-naïve, urban folk that they are known for. A great many tiny acrylics on panel, plus larger composites and installations, occupy the gallery space like a patchwork, or an elaborate fortune-telling game. Coupled with wry text-based elements and ironic narrative aspects, the entire effect is both funny and a bit on the dark side.
