Folk rocker Rufus Wainwright took a classical sabbatical during 2009, embarking on a musical version of Shakespeare's sonnets and premiering his controversial opera debut, Prima Donna, about a day in the life of an opera singer. (Traditionalists didn't care for it; new wavers were optimistic.) He's back in April with a new folk rock opus, All Days Are Nights: Songs for Lulu, a couplet borrowed from Shakespeare and a reference to the "dark, dangerous woman that lives within all of us." Expect more drama and mysterious woman-tunes to make their Long Beach premiere tonight.
